Today I felt like I got a lot of things checked off my list. And when I say list, you should know that is a loaded statement.
I am a lover of lists. I make lists OF my lists (this is not a joke, I rarely joke about my lists). So I was very intrigued when I heard about the website todoist.com .
What is it? Well, you can add “projects” which are lists of things to do. Each project then can have “tasks” assigned to it. I should note, here, that I have not yet decided to upgrade to the premium version. The basic version is free. Here are some of the lists I’ve made:
- weekly tasks (each of us have our own, plus one joint activity one)
- restaurants we want to visit
- places to practice photography
- cities to visit in MN
- other US places to visit
- wish list for me
- wish list for man-go-round
- christmas/ gift ideas for others
- movies to watch
- TV shows to download
- birthdays
- things to google
- blog ideas
- column ideas for the magazine I write for
- ideas for our Project 2012 (social, cultural, spiritual, etc)
- household chores
- wordpress projects
- yearly festivals and fun
- things I need to talk to him about after work
- which James Bond movie we’re on (we’re watching them all in order)
It seems like almost every day I think of a new list or use for this site, and its all in one place and I’ve gotten man-go-round to use the same account as me and we can use it on our mobiles…
What’s not to like? I don’t know. You can add dates things are “due,” check things off but still have them saved in the lower gray area, and more.
I love it.
Have you tried Todoist yet? How do you organize your life? Do you love lists as I do?
Meri
I love lists, too. But I like to have a journal of some sort where I can physically write them down and check them off. I’ll check out the site, tho!!
[oomph.]

I love lists mostly bc I like to cross things off and feel productive. Haha. But they def. keep me more organized too. I should look up that website. Never heard of it
it does make it really satisfying to cross them off!
I’m a firm truthful follower of Todoist! I started using it when I was going to move apartments in London… the whole logistics of it was a complete nightmare, are doing lists of every task that needed to be taken care of really made it a lot better (still, it didn’t save me from my moving company losing my TV…
). I’m now using it for my career change (listing magazines I should subscribe, books to read, conferences to attend, etc) and other things like my health program (where I list the activities I should do) etc! It´s so much fun and so makes me so productive!
it feels like every time I open it I find another use for it or another thing to keep track of, like birthdays or gifts for other people ideas or a log of vacations we’ve taken together. I love it!

Oh, I am crazy about lists! I need to try that website out!! My problem is that I write lists everywhere and then they’re not very organized!
I used to have an entire notepad of lists that I carried around with me like a security blanket… I don’t often use todoist on my smartphone yet, but I’m working on it. At least all of my lists are there so its either at home or at work with me.
Man, you have a much more complicated life than me!
seemingly by list, but maybe not in reality
Never heard of Todoist before. I actually don’t make that many lists; I don’t really need many. Just a weekly grocery list and a list of episodes I need to watch (mainly during the regular TV season). I have an app for my grocery list and I have Windows 7 so I use the sticky notes gadget to keep the list of TV episodes. Not much else for my hum-drum life.
hmm what is the grocery app? man go round is always talking about wanting a grocery list app!
It’s called EasyShopping. It has a red background with a white shopping cart and white circle around the cart. It’s also free. I got it because I often buy the same things every week so after I check the items off at the grocery store, I can uncheck them and they’re on my list for the next week. Plus, any and all items that you add (which is most – the database that it comes with is small and simple) are saved for future use, so you can delete them from your list the weeks you don’t need them. I love it!
Thanks- I will pass it along to him!
I use lists ALL THE TIME! I wouldn’t remember to do anything if I didn’t write it down!
plus, its so darn satisfying to cross things off!
