Go ahead, make my…

…List!

What’s the new feature I was talking about the last few days? Well, I was looking over my weekly to-do list last Friday, seeing how I had done for the week, and I thought about how much I like listmaking. I’ve had whole listmania months here at Meri-Goes-Round, I make weekly to-do lists (separate for work and home) and I make larger scale “this summer” and “30 before 30” lists.

So I got to thinking, and I ย thought it would be neat to share my weekly lists with you, and hope that you guys want to join in the fun too! Why? Well… how about a list!

1. It will hold me more accountable to some of the more mundane items on the list, putting it in writing.

2. It can be a way to share ideas with others…

3. It will be fun to get ideas from you guys!

So I’ll give you my inaugural Monday List, and next time I hope some of you will join in! If you blog, you can link back here or just use the idea (there are pretty pictures above if you choose to use them). If you don’t blog, or are too lazy to post, you can put it in the comments! I’d love to hear the tasks that build your week up! So here’s what I’m looking at this week:

1. Tell all of my friends and family I’m having one of my fictional short stories published! (yes, that’s the news I alluded to yesterday. It’s also an item on my 30 before 30! Holla! If you want more details, just e-mail me!)

2. Fill/ organize new wine racks (Thanks mom and dad!)

3. Think of ideas for costume/ props for nieces impending magical birthday party… (ideas welcome)

4. Enjoy bbq at man-go-round’s brother’s house

5. Lift weights

6. Fill out paperwork for dermatologist appt (all over body ย mole check)

7. Check out Borders for sales

8. Return some of this stuff to the library/ pick up new stuff!

9. Order pictures from Snapfish (100 for $1! Love this sale!)

10. Open pinterest for approximately the 2nd time. Actually do something with it.

11. Get some new produce for my sad empty crispers! (a weekend out of town will do that!)

12. Finish Bossypants, or at least make progress

13. Choose GIVEAWAY winner on Wednesday! Enter if you haven’t yet!

14. Think of ideas with man-go-round for our upcoming anniversary. 5 years. Whoa I’m old…

So there you have it! What do you guys all have on your to-do lists for the week? And if you want to link up next week, let me know and I can make it a PARTY over here!

Meri

  1. What a great idea! We some overlap in lists. Congratulations on being published & for your upcoming anni ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. penny says:

Wow! That is an impressive list! I used to be more energetic too I guess. I’ll have to give some thought to my list and maybe for this week it will only have one item–make a list for next Monday? I guess when you retire you get a little laid back. But I think I’d like to be a bit more productive and intentional, so I’ll give it a try. Congrats on your story being published. Love ya, MGR

    • Meri says:

I will hold you to that. I’ve seen your lists. DEFINITELY seen your grocery lists haha- and I used to add my own 2 cents to them… “fruit snacks… doritos…cupcakes…mountain dew.”

  3. Terri says:

where will this story be published? I MUST track down a copy!

  4. Maegan says:

I love this idea! I’m a list freak! LOVE lists, I make one every day for my daily tasks, and then have a larger weekly list. Then there’s my blog list …. and …. I just love lists. I’m all over this!

  5. Hahahaha I can’t wait to read all your lists. I don’t make lists, sometimes I make them for like “books I read in 2011”. But I like the surprises of a none planned life. I’m weird like that.

And ok, you get to have a short story published?!?!?! I want to know everything! Look at us girls, living our dreams and writing what we love! So proud of you/us. Is it weird that I just threw myself in there? Anywho, that’s amazing, and I can’t wait for the deets!

  6. I love it all! Congrats on being published, that is amazing. And I would totally be down to participate in this with you next week. I think it could be really fun to see what everyone has to say. You should do a linky with it all!!

    • Meri says:

I was thinking about it, but didn’t know a good link plug-in to get. I’ve never done a link-up but it seems like fun, and then you guys can find other list fiends too! Can’t wait to see what’s on your list as you get ready to go overseas soon!

  7. So funny, I just created my list for tomorrow! Tuesdays are my days off and so I generally try to make a Tuesday List; however it doesn’t seem to get done. I would totally link up if you did this each week!

So far on my list tomorrow- Trader Joes, Gap (to return a jacket), make dr/dentist appt, figure out how much a new paint set is and then head to ceramics class. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Ah, lists help me out so much! Today I have to sand a wall (we’re converting a room), read through my MS one last time, clean, read another writer’s MS and comment, catch up on blogs…and AHHHH! Congrats on your story being published. That’s very cool! p.s. I’m always up for a party!

    • Meri says:

I’ll be glad to have you join! Thanks for the congratulations, and good luck with the wall! I kind of enjoy projects like that, especially if I have help!

  9. claire says:

ive started writing lists…it works!! yey for getting published! how exciting!!

  10. oomph., says:

that’s fantabulous…congrats!! send me the deets, would love to read!

    [oomph.]

  11. My todo list is simple, make each kid I’m working with this week become better and cooler in life than he was before. Three kids, five days. Let’s do it.

    • Meri says:

sounds remarkably similar to mine- and it makes my work “to do” list pretty simple… write treatment plans, see kids, see parents, write session notes, drink tea. repeat.

  12. ohh have fun at the bbq! i definitely need to hit up borders too so i can find some good cook books for cheaaappp!

    • Meri says:

I know- and I’m glad you don’t think its odd that I include social outings on my to-do list haha- it reminds me that some tasks are just for fun and not work at all! Last time a borders store closed the magazines were all 40% off or more, I’m hoping for that and the PAPERCHASE stuff- my favorite!

  13. Libby says:

Whoa Meri! So exciting! I want to read the article! Of course I was not surprised to read this news. It was only a matter of time before you were published and I am sure it won’t be the last time! Congrats sista!

I was going to email you to tell you that the theme for SYlvia’s party is very open. You can do Harry Potter or fairy magic, or any other kind of magic or mystery that you want. Thanks for playing along with my silly theme ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also enjoy the snapfish 100 for $1 and I just purchased some the other day!

Also on my to do list:

    1. Get new Britax car seat installed in car
    2. Get baby gates up
    3. Get kitchen cupboards clean so I can let Sylvia walk around in there.
    4. Clean basement ( avoiding this one)

    Gotta love lists and you!

    • Meri says:

ahahahahaha- does she like to play in the cupboards? she has a little aunt bacaw in her after all! I’m proud. Mom was telling me about her walking a little and doing some kissing (people, phones…) I miss you guys!
I almost bought a little fairy costume at party america (for me, that is) last weekend because it was marked $2 but I got to the register and it was $8 and I thought… hmm, I can be more creative than this and make something! and there is NOTHING silly about a theme, I love them! I can’t wait for her party!
and thanks for the congratulations- I’ll send you guys the link to see it!
      good luck with the basement…

  14. haha, I always forget about Pinterest too! I need to pin more ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I wanna rest for a while and sleep the whole week, it was a busy last week for me as it was my birthday, got 3 celebrations which means 3 parties lots of booze and I feel so tired.

    • Meri says:

Sounds kind of like when you get home from vacation… and then need a vacation to recover from vacation ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you had a fun birthday though!

  23. Love all the free photos from Snapfish and Shutterfly!

  24. Kyla says:

Sounds like a good plan to me. You better get to work, though, or you’ll never get it done. Have fun and happy listing!
