Who doesn’t love Lucille Ball? I know there must be 1 or 2 people out there that don’t, but I sure can’t conceive of why that might be. Watching I Love Lucy is like a familiar friend making you laugh at yourself and making you forget any worries you might have. Anyone’s life is a breeze compared to the predicaments of one Lucy Ricardo. There’s Lucy, Ricky, Ethel, and my personal favorite- Fred Mertz.
I love Lucy-Β I dressed up as her for Halloween a few years ago.

Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts in scene from Pretty Woman) loves her too! Behold!

Do you love Lucy? Well, I bet you do- so what is your favorite Lucy moment? Need help? Well here’s a few of mine.
1. Vitameatavegamin- Lucy gets drunk on “medicine” while casting for a commercial

2. Chocolate factory- priceless face stuffing as the conveyer belt spins quickly out of control!
3. Baking day- The loaf of bread that kept on giving!

4. The one where Lucy and Ethel are dressed up as Aliens for some bizarro moneymaking scheme
5. The abovementioned and Hollywood Hooker approved grape stomping scene
Do you love “I Love Lucy” or what? Do you have other favorite older shows I should watch? What TV do you like to cuddle up to on Saturday mornings?
Meri

I love I Love Lucy! She was just so adorable, Ricky annoyed me, but Fred made up for that. Baking Day was great, crazy giant bread. That’s one big yeast infection!
hahahaha- you are right! And Fred was up there with Lucy for funniest character/ lines sometimes. Ethel was pretty great too. I think the worst character, though, was stupid Little Ricky.
Did you know that today would have been Lucille Ball’s 100reth birthday if she had lived? Is it a coincidence that you wrote about her today? I love the loaf of bread that kept on giving! I remember that episode and the grape stomping one too. MGR
I didn’t know that! What an interesting coincidence- I’m trying to think of how I came up with I love lucy when writing my blog tonight… I think I was just thinking about Nick at Nite and it was my favorite of that bunch. Between that show, Laverne and Shirley, and Happy Days, you probably had your fill of all of those when I was younger! Or did I go down to the basement?
Haven’t watched I Love Lucy since the 90s, when it was on Nick@Nite. I don’t remember a whole lot but I’ve seen the chocolate factory/mouth-stuffing scene several times and crack up each time π Two of my young cousins, specifically the teenager, discovered the show a couple years ago and LOVE it and her. I guess the show is rerun on the Hallmark Channel so they watch it often. I think the teenager also dressed up as Lucille Ball for Halloween either 2 years ago or last year, and she has Lucille Ball’s biography. I do kind of wish it was on when none of my other shows are on :/
You’re right, it is on the Hallmark channel now. I was watching it for awhile at our old place but now we don’t get that channel. I’ll have to find it elsewhere!
Ummm, so I haven’t seen a ton of “I Love Lucy”, but I always laugh when I see it! Such a classic funny woman!
Ummmm, if you haven’t yet, you need to watch “The Long Long Trailer”. It stars both Lucy and Ricky! OMG, one of the funniest classic movies I have ever seen!
Thanks, I will definitely check it out- I haven’t seen any of their movies!
So happy about this post today. We’re having a mini Lucy fest in celebration of her 100th birthday. I’ve been obsessed with Lucille Ball since fourth grade… and although I don’t watch as regularly now, any time I pop in a Lucy DVD, I’ve got guaranteed laughs. Vitameatavegamin and Lucy Meets Bill Holden are probably my two favorites, as is Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana from the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. And don’t forget the Lucy Show! There were some great ones there, like when she and Vivian tried to install a shower! Ahhh, so much love. β₯ β₯ β₯
I think its so funny that I didn’t even know it was her 100th birthday until my mom told me in the comments. Must be fate! The Hollywood episode is a great one, you’re right!
I haven’t watched “I Love Lucy” in a while. I think it’s time for me to get reacquainted.
I think they are playing it on the Hallmark channel these days, if you get it!
i managed to never see an episode or any clips.
oh man, you are missing out. She is pure comedic genius, but very charming too.
Have only seen the chocolate factory episode. Shocking I know! I love her rubber face!
hahaha, usually when people are over the top I don’t love it, but she is so incredibly funny
Haha every time I see the Vitavitavegamin episode I laugh so hard that I cry!
I adore I Love Lucy!
I think I’m going to need to get a set of the DVDs from the library and have a little marathon!
Somehow I’m just now realizing that we never see your face! I love Lucy–her talent was so tremendous and she was such a classy, fun, spunky actress.
I can watch the same episodes over and over and still laugh my tail off. That’s good comedy, and good TV!
This is probably considered blasphemy, but I can’t stand her!! My fiancΓ© and I seriously cannot stand her voice, her laugh … And I hate that crying, “WAHHHHHH,” she does. She might be one of my least favorite people — as you can tell from my rant.

haha, well can we still be friends?
I’ve actually never watched I Love Lucy believe it or not! But my favourite show as a kid was Brady Bunch!
The Brady Bunch and I love lucy used to be on the same Nick at Nite lineup when I was little- its when I used to watch them both all of the time!
I loved watching I Love Lucy – fun reminder!
Haha, I totally watched Google’s header today and remembered how entertaining Lucy was. Total sweetheart and a good dresser, too!
XXo,
Neekoh
I never did check the google out- I randomly wrote this post and then people started telling me about her birthday. weird, right?
This is probably super weird, but I don’t think I’ve ever intentionally watched an episode of I Love Lucy. Definitely SEEN them, but never turned it on and watched on purpose.
It seems to be on networks that don’t necessarily advertise when shows are on, so you kind of have to happen upon it if you aren’t looking for it!
i love the grape stomping episode π
Yet another reason why I want to go stomp grapes too!
Hi Chick, thanks for visiting my blog!
Diet Coke Rocks …. my blog name …. is because the only thing I drink is Diet Coke!
OK… sometimes I drink a hot chocolate too!
AND… sometimes I put a bit of Bacardi in me Coke too! lol
Thanks for saying you enjoyed visiting.
Thanks for stopping by here as well, Chris! Keep on with the diet coke- I’m with you a hundred percent π
Thanks so much for visiting me so I could come check out your blog too!
I love lucy is still one of my favorite tv shows, I love everything about that era! My husband always joke with each other: “You’ve got some ‘xplaining to do!!”
oh man, for the month or two (or three?) after we dressed up as lucy and desi, the boyfriend and I had quite the script of that going on… then I think we annoyed each other out of it haha
I love I love Lucy.
She brings back so many memories watching Nick at Night with my mother just laughing our heads off.
me too- it was on the same block as Laverne and Shirley when I was younger, and I loved that one too!
hahahha that bread picture is hilarious!!! hmmm the only show i really watch now is the food network….if i have time~~~:)
I think, of every favorite, the bread baking episode might be my favorite. the sight gags are incredible!
I never really watched I Love Lucy all that much. She did have some funny episodes though!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. You had a great Half Full Friday list. Have a great weekend!
I like nice happy lists- my weekend list for this weekend is like 2 pages long, and its all fun stuff I want to do but have been putting off because of being busy.
Did you see the Google homepage image today? It was pretty awesome – an old-fashioned TV on which you could actually click “play” & watch some I Love Lucy.
I was just watching this earlier today, though. It reminds me of when I was little and it was on Nick at Nite and I’d watch it with my mom. π
I saw it- but only after this post. It was one of those weird coincidences! You are like the third person to mention watching Nick at Nite with your mom- and I would be another one who watched it with my mom too! What a funny tradition other people had too, I had no idea!
The “Vitameatavegamin” commercial was my absolute favorite! <3 The google homepage was so awesome yesterday!
I know- it was randomly very good timing!
Lucy is my favorite! She is so darn cute!!!
Would you believe that I’ve never actually seen a whole episode of I Love Lucy? I’ve seen clips, but that’s it.
aww you should download an episode or two- there arent too many bad ones, just a few more cheesy ones
oh wow, this is a blast from the past! I used to be OBSESSED with Lucille Ball and anything & everything I Love Lucy-related! I used to watch Nick at Night like it was my biznass! Haven’t seen the show in probably a decade now, but this brought back some great memories!
For awhile there there was a really good Nick at Nite lineup- it got me addicted to a lot of these shows!
WHOA! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lucy. π Always have.
My favorite episodes are, Vitameatavegemin, of course…then the one where Lucy tells Desi she’s having a baby, then he sings to her and dances her around the nightclub….then the one where Lucy accidentally lights her fake nose on fire. HA!
& I have the whole series of Hallmark’s Lucy Christmas ornaments. LOVE them. π
Oh I totally forgot about the one she sets the nose on fire! Her eyes in that shot are priceless!
i enjoyed i love lucy but i especially remember enjoying shows like Gilligan’s Island, The Monkees and Charlie’s Angels. They’re not quite as old though π
spinning-threads.blogspot.com
I was pretty addicted to Charlie’s Angels for awhile- I’ve never actually seen a single episode of the Monkees, but I know the theme song!
Oh Lucy was just awesome!! I never get tired of watching her shows even though I have seen most all of the episodes so many times!!
I love the combination of slapstick and sit-com that the show was, and Lucy herself is just the most adorable!
