gingerbread head

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend! Ours was a whirlwind again, and so for this Sunday night, I thought I’d catch you all up on our progress on the Advent Calendar!

It's getting filled up!

First up is the stocking, which on Tuesday we took to represent St. Nick’s Day. Deciding to forego the treats, we left each other notes before work instead:

A bit of cheer in the morning before work!

On Wednesday, we put the star both on our Advent calendar and on our tree. After craft time star fail, I bought one at Target like a failure. But we love our glitter bomb star now:

Thursday was cookie day, so the “plan” was to each eat a cookie. Man-go-round did pretty well with this. I, on the other hand, went on a cookie bender and couldn’t even look at anything sugary until Saturday night. I’d like to say lesson learned, but I know myself a bit better than that. I think there are more sugar highs to be had before Christmas is on its way out…

Friday we put up the angel and read a Christmas book I had when I was little, “The Littlest Angel.”

Saturday we put up the candle, to symbolize the holiday lights parade we went to:

trolley rides driven by horsies...
Nightmare before Christmas decorations in the windows...
...and fantastic acts in the parade like these snowflake dancers!

Today we went to a fabulous rendition of the Nutcracker Ballet. To get ready, though, we decorated some foam gingerbread men I bought on one of my sprees at Michaels. I’d like to say children made all of these, but some of them definitely were made by adults… and we put the gingerbread symbol on the advent calendar.

gingerbread men and women. No gumdrop buttons whatsoever...

So we’re more than halfway through the Advent Calendar now! I’m looking forward to some more cheesy holiday spirit and activities!

The parade was pretty chilly- what events or activities will you brave the cold for? Do you celebrate St. Nick’s Day? What did you do this weekend?

Meri
