copycat crime

Well, Christmas has come and gone. In the midst of all of the wrapping:

wrapping done by my creative eco-warrior ma-in-law!

…unwrapping

Gah- the carnage! (but hey, there's THIRTEEN of us, okay?)

…merriment…

there's a special place in my heart for my momma's Christmas goblets!

and reflection:

get it? reflection? ha.

I had time for two last Christmas tasks. I found two adorable ideas on Pinterest (totally sucked back into that this week), and they happened to round out the last couple of days on our Advent Calendar.

First, the Snowman pancake:

so, that was obviously harder than it looks.

Next up, sleds full of treats for my favorite peeps:

okay, so what did I learn?

1. Copying ideas from Pinterest is harder than they make it look…

2. Both of these activities were still fun, and the recipients enjoyed them anyway!

So pin on and craft on, my brothers and sisters.

Plus, we’ve got a whole year to practice!

How was your holiday weekend? Have you tried DIY projects from Pinterest or other web or print tutorials? How did they work out?

Hahaha, I love this. Trying things off the internet is always a tricky process.

I loved receiving a little present sled from you, I thought it was perfect! Eric and I decided that if crafting projects are too perfect they aren’t for us! There is always a bit of slap dashery ( my new word) to every thing I do! The snowmen I made this weekend couldn’t even stand up for instance! I love trying new crafts and I am totally sucked in to pinterest as well!

  3. Oh I am soooo not crafty! I try, but it’s just not my thing! I love your snowman? He’s really cute!
And we are twins, we opened our posts with the same couple of words, and then went our own way soon there after!

  4. Connie says:

I LOVE that snowman pancake idea! So cute! I need to try that next year (:

  5. Sooz says:

I tried to leave you a comment in the post before this one when you posted it but somehow I couldn’t … Anyway, I wanted to say Merry Christmas :o)

And … I also tried to do the snowman pancake. Mine was also not as wonderful as the one from pinterest, but I guess it came out ok. Will post the photo soon, when I empty my memory card. So cute present sled, that one turned out good 😉

I enjoyed your post on this! Yours was so cute! And I turned off comments on my x-mas post because I knew I wouldn’t have time to read them. Sorry if it was confusing! Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you!

  6. Sooz says:

Ps. Your snowman looks as if it’s smiling. Can’t stop looking at it … so funny!

  7. Jasmine says:

Aw, I like that your little snowman pancake is smiling!!

I had a lovely weekend. Yours looks beautiful 🙂 And Happy Holidays!
I’ve never tried a Pinterest tutorial, but I love Pinterest…for finding gorgeous things.
    And the snowman pancakes…so cute.

Oh, those sleds are so cute! I absolutely love that idea. I’m going to make those for my students next year.

Honestly, everything I see online looks easy and cute and easy. And then it leads to a disaster in my house. I need to start following crafty blogs written by messy, uncrafty people. Ha!

  11. Everything that was created comes from the thought. There is a substance that lives in our minds, which transforms things: the substance is creative thinking.

With the ability to think that we were given, we have capacez to achieve breakthroughs.

    Greetings!

  12. I’ve tried a few things from pinterest. I’m so addicted to that site! But now I want pancakes thanks to your picture! Mmmm…

It sounds like you had a great holiday weekend!

  14. Errign says:

I haven’t tried anything on Pinterest yet, but I know I’ll get sucked in and my crafts will be awful.

    • Meri says:

haha- it has great food, exercise, and home decor ideas too. I will start trying some of the hairstyle tutorials if I ever grow my hair back out!

  15. Simply Life says:

love those creative ideas! I struggle to make a pancake the shape of a circle 🙂

    • Meri says:

haha- I think I was overly ambitious. I realized later that the pinterest version had a bacon scarf which could be “attaching” the snowman, which would have been easier to flip! Oh well, live and learn 🙂

  16. These are so adorable and looks like you did a great job! Hope you have a wonderfully blessed New Year!!

  17. Alyssa says:

I absolutely LOVE pinterest. I really love the pancake. It looks like its up to no good. AND I LOVE THE CHARLIE BROWN WRAPPING PAPER!!!!

  18. OMG, the pancake has me doubled over in laughter… hilarious!!!! 🙂

  19. Raymund says:

At least you tried and they enjoyed it, thats the most important thing to consider
