Project 2012- Week 1

It’s been one whole week since the onset of “Project 2012,” and I thought it was time for an update!

...the pink star is for Bowie...

So as you can (maybe) see, we’ve done pretty well for ourselves in Tech, Food, Health/Body and Love/Relationship Looks like we need some more work on the rest though! Here’s a quick breakdown:

Tech/Photo/Web: man-go-round taught me how to make a GIF, and then I made an animation posted to youtube with my new tablet; man-go-round set up our TV antennae upstairs for better reception but managed that it is controlled by our x-box controller downstairs. (huh? I know… I just know I like how it works!)

Health/Body:took a winter walk together; gave each other head massages with this new gadget:

heaven...

Knowledge/ Learning: Read an article from Psychology today about all of the different types of mushrooms and uses/ benefits of different kinds. Mmmmm…

Service: Took a load of stuff to Goodwill (feels so much better…)

Love/Relationship: Man-go-round left me a note to tell me something he appreciated me doing around the house, I walked to visit him at work on Friday and brought him treats.

Play: Had a Sunday morning dance party in honor of David Bowie’s birthday to “Modern Love.”

Food: Made a head of cauliflower together, and tried each other’s “way” of seasoning it, tried this new beer together:

So I guess this next week, we had better focus more on culture, new places, social life, arts and crafts, and spirituality!

What areas of your life do you find easy to focus on? How do you keep your life or relationship well-rounded? Any other good ideas for the service or spirituality part?

Project 2012 is starting off so well! Congrats! When I get back to my apartment I’m going through all my clothes and loading up a whole bunch for Salvation Army!

  2. Terri says:

Oh, those head massagers feel wonderful. So, I want to know the different ways you each seasoned the cauliflower. Can you do a tutorial on .gifs?

    • Meri says:

I might be able to commission man-go-round to do some tech tutorials, he would be the expert 🙂 Man-go-round seasoned it with butter, salt, and pepper (booooring), and mine involved a lot of seasonings including horseradish mustard, cheese, garlic powder, chili powder, and black pepper. It was delicious. I love cauliflower though!

  4. My parents just went through a bunch of stuff in our house and my mom and I dropped some of it off at Value Village (kind of like Goodwill. Not sure if it’s a nationwide store) and some of it off with the local food and clothing bank. It always feels nice when we do that.

    • Meri says:

sometimes I’m a bit wavering on whether or not to give something away (especially clothes) and then i think about someone else actually needing it- that helps make the decision!

  5. Stephanie says:

Your project is off to such a great start! I may have missed it during my MIA week…but did you post the link to your Youtube video?

    • Meri says:

I didn’t- because the video/animation itself was pretty lame, I was more excited that I learned how to make it 🙂 I’m easily pleased haha

  6. oh my gosh. I have secretly wanted one of those handy head massagers forever!!! I need one!!

You did lots of wonderful things this week….keep it up! 😀

  7. I love how you had a dance party for Bowie! You rock!

  8. Shell Flower says:

How sweet that you are working on your relationship in such cute ways. I love that. My relationship could probably use that right now, too! So far, my 2012 goals are a bit neglected…

  9. Ada says:

Kudos to you for getting all that stuff off to Goodwill. That always makes me feel so much better!

  10. I love how it’s the little things that you guys are appreciating. They really do add up. What a sweet way to start the new year.

  11. I REALLY love those head massagers!

  12. Simply Life says:

we’ve been packing up things for goodwill this week – it always feels good to do that!

  13. Alyssa says:

I absolutely love how far you have progressed in just a week! Will you share the cauliflower for Tasty Tuesday??

    • Meri says:

I didn’t photograph the cauli, but I could do a post next time I make it- its a pretty frequent winter veg for us haha. I’m looking forward to more food adventures too!

  14. This is too sweet… I especially love the idea of cooking something together but differently! 🙂
