Feather my nest

Hey y’all, and Happy Weekend! After a long and wonderful day of Michaels, Target, crafts,, and going out for a belated Valentine’s Day date with man-go-round, I’m not sitting by the fire plotting our trip to Arizona and hiding from the cold.

But before long, it will be spring. This week is already Marchย (which I can’t believe), and soon comes Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, birthdays, the Pippi Longstocking exhibit at the American Swedish Insitute, and the birth of my new nephew.

The upcoming spring calls for celebration. Well, that, but also… decoration!

I used ย combination of coupons and gift cards at Michael’s today to buy these fake flowers and twiggy wreath. My idea is to break apart the flowers into separate branches, and then sort of weave them into the wreath. Any other ideas for me?

Beyond my premature spring fever, there are more important things to discuss… like the SUGARBOWL.

We’re nearly to the end of round one. There is just one more chocolate match and one more candy match before we move on to round two. Last time, we did the wild card round and jelly beans took on candy corn for the “holiday candy” title. Who won?

jelly beans!

(ewwww) okay you jelly bellies- you win this time! I utterly despise jelly beans, along with skittles and mike and ikes and all of their similar ilk… but I believe deep in my heart that candy corn is a winner too. Okay, I’ll get over myself so we can vote on the next one:

sno-caps vs. whoppers!

Vote on, people… and tell me what you’re up to this weekend!

Cheers!

Meri

I’ve never heard of sno-caps. But I love whoppers in moderation. Something in the malt burns my tongue. So whoppers for me!

You hate Skittles? Oh dear. Those are my absolute favorite.

I think the wreath will be just beautiful. Do you have a big floppy bow for it? For some reason, I feel like a spring wreath should have lots of pale blue ribbon wrapped around it.

Whoppers for me, although I don’t like them that much. Malteasers – their European counterparts – are one of my absolute favorite candies though!

I like the idea of a bow, and someone else mentioned a bird which I considered too, but couldn’t find the right color scheme with the bird haha.

  3. Whoppers! I’ve always had a bit of a love for them ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Terri says:

Whoppers. We thrifted all day today…and possibly tomorrow too.

  5. Raymund says:

    Definitely it would be whoppers

    SNO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!

That wreath is going to look really cute! If you’re looking for suggestions to add to the wreath, you could always add a little robin or something hidden amongst the flowers ๐Ÿ™‚

Once again, I have no idea what Sno Caps or Whoppers are ๐Ÿ™ (Down here a Whopper is a burger from Hungry Jacks – which is our version of Burger King!)

I can totally relate on the permanent spring fever! I can definitely see why you are excited with SO much to look forward to! I really like the idea you have for the wreath. Please post pics when you are done!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Whoppers for sure. I can picture the Sno-caps box, but don’t think I’ve ever tried one. As for the wreath, sounds lovely and please do post pictures when you are done. Congrats on your nephew’s upcoming birth–that will be so fun for you.
I went ice-skating for the first time in years yesterday and today is my son’s 17th birthday. He’s having 5 boys come over for cake later, so it’s going to smell like teen spirit (i.e. a bunch of cheap cologne) here pretty soon. We are also supposed to get snow tonight and have had flurries all day already. The snow-line is just up the hill from us right now.

Whoppers for sure. Sno caps are gross! Actually, I think I only had them once when I was a kid, so who knows if I’d like them…but I pick Whoppers out of nostalgia.

I slacked off all weekend, visited friends, ate a lot, and now I’m way behind…but oh well!
