Best supporting costume…

I might be watching the Oscars, but that isn’t what this post is about. Despite the gorgeous gowns I just witnessed on Octavia Spencer, Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, and others, I’m actually talking about the fashion I saw on (what I’m assuming is the finale) episode of Pan Am that I watched this morning:

First up:  Kate’s outfit is making me believe being a spy is even MORE glamorous than previously thought…

“Never send a man to do a woman’s job…”

Next we have a coat that Colette is wearing that is worthy of Blair Waldorf…

…followed by a similar dress that is also striking and chic…

…and for the finale, the New Years Eve party gowns. I adore Colette’s dress (in the center) and her hair too, actually…

okay, and one more of the New Years Eve gowns…

P.S. I can’t stand Laura, I don’t know why. I might be biased by my obvious love of all things Colette. Oh, and I can’t stand Christina Ricci’s character either. She is shrill all of the time.

Now, onto just as frivolous and even more meaningless drivel… the Sugarbowl.

Yesterday, Sno-caps took on Whoppers in the battle of… candies I never eat but felt the need to include in the Sugarbowl. Aaaaaand the winner is… WHOPPERS! Sno-caps would have been my vote, but they didn’t come even close.

Tonight, in the last match of round one:

Pixie Sticks vs. Everlasting Gobstoppers!

This seems like a fun one to me! Tomorrow we’ll move on to round two and things will get a bit more heated!

Which candy do you vote for? Are you watching the Academy Awards? Are there any TV shows you watch just for the clothes or scenery?

I have to vote for pixie sticks, but in a more lesser of two evils kind of way since I don’t like either one.

I’m not watching the academy awards…but I should because I’m pretty sure my cousin is there. I don’t watch any shows for the scenery, but I do watch the Killing with an eye for the inside scoops I get from my cousin (who is a producer of the show). I mean, it’s a good show too, but I don’t think I would have started watching it if she wasn’t talking about the set and things that happened, etc.

I love Pan AM….literally makes me think I was a Pan Am stewardess in a previous life LOL. The clothing of that time period…I absolutely LOVE. It is so classy and chic!

Regarding the Academy Awards, Jessica Chastain looks gorgeous. Surprisingly, I actually really like Cameron Diaz’s dress as well. There’s a lot of beautiful dresses tonight!

  3. Alyssa says:

OMG the Pan Am finale. (I’m sorry if all Pan Am/Gossip Girl/ and soon to be Mad Men posts utter this reaction, but it is exactly how I feel.) Kate taking down Anderson was SO GOOD! I also loved Colette’s NYE dress! She is always so impeccably dressed.

And I TOTALLY agree about Christina Ricci’s character. She is just too much, alllll the timee! Like, chillax girl!!

Lastly, my vote goes for pixie sticks!!

  4. I did watch the Academy Awards. My 11 year old cousin was bummed when HP didn’t win a SINGLE category that it was up for – mainly makeup. I was so excited when Octavia Spencer won and was bummed that The Help didn’t win more. But The Artist looked good (I’m not even sure it was up here at any Seattle-area movie theaters) so I’m glad it won a lot of awards. Everyone looked great!

I’m really hoping that this was the SEASON finale of Pan Am instead of the SERIES finale. I guess we’ll know in May when ABC will probably make the announcement…

Not sure which to choose for the SugarBowl. Haven’t had either in a while. I guess I’ll go with Gobstoppers since Pixie Stix are known as “pageant crack” (Toddlers & Tiaras is a guilty pleasure of mine. Kind of like a train wreck – so awful but I can’t help but watch!).

    GOBSTOPPERS for me!

  6. Cindy says:

boy I don’t eat those anymore but when I was a kid I loved pixie stix.

    so I vote for them!

and I’ve only seen Pan Am once….I need to watch it again. I think it’s on Netflix?? right??

    haha

  8. those outfits are really pretty, I’ve seen the show once I wasn’t really into it, but I do love the costumes

  9. Melanna says:

I don’t really like either candy, but I think I’ll go with Pixie Stix today.

And yes, Laura drives me nuts (her voice maybe, like she’s always trying to talk in a just-above-a-whisper?) and Christina Ricci’s character is just too over the top. I’m with you on the Collette love.

  10. Ada says:

Pixie Sticks for me. I have so many fond memories of being “sugar high” on Pixie Sticks. Maybe not fond memories of the adult chaperones. Haha.

Missed the Oscars this year. Don’t feel like I missed much; I can always catch the pretty dresses the day after online.

That show sounded so interesting. I may have to check it out.

  11. tracy says:

The clothes are stunning and I love the hairstyles too.

  12. Chris H says:

WE don’t get that programme here… but the clothes ARE LOVELY!

  13. thais says:

I actually missed the oscar cause was driving home back form the coast ;(
looove colette’s long green dress… stunning! wish I had more time to watch shows just for the costumes.

    • Meri says:

I would much rather be on a scenic drive than watching oscars haha. The back of colette’s dress was so cool, like a big waterfall. I want it!

  14. oomph. says:

i’m late, but just throwing in my two cents. hope it was GOBSTOPPERS!!!
