Tonight, we climbed to the top of this tower, one of the highest points in Minneapolis. It opens up once a year for the Pratt Ice Cream Social.
Down at the bottom, we saw this guy:
Making me feel a bit magical, a bit nostalgic, and a bit dreamy. I remembered how I used to dream of living in a castle when I was wee. Rapunzel? I think she had it pretty great! She got to sit in a tower looking at the view all day, and didn’t have to speak to a soul. Okay, so it would be a nightmare after like 6 minutes, but still, you have to admit that castles and towers are pretty magical! Here are a few of my favorites!

There you have it! Now, I can’t finish this post without some more rambling, so I’ll give you a few of my favorite childhood fairy tales!
-Puss in Boots (not sure, I think the book we had of fairy tales had a funny picture I liked?)
-Rapunzel- You will notice a theme that I like fairy tales with trickery and repetitive lines to script…
-Rumpelstiltzken (because its fun to say). And yes, trickery.
-Hansel and Gretel- uh, the candy house? duh. and trickery.
-Jack and the Beanstalk- perhaps has the best potential to be really theatrical in delivery “FEE FI FO FUUUUUUMMMMMM!” hahaha. Trickery!
-The emperor’s new clothes- even at a young age, I enjoyed laughing at adults…and there is trickery to be had once again…
I DIDN’T like:
-Snow White- too scary
-Cinderella- ugh, the cleaning. We did love the Disney version with the nasty stepsisters though.
-Sleeping Beauty- just dumb. and I was afraid of the spindle.
-The Princess and the Pea- this might be outright the dumbest fairy tale ever told…
-Aladdin- I love the Disney movie, just not the fairy tale. It’s creepy.
