Well, today is August 1st. You know what that means on Meri-goes-round, right? Oh, you don’t? Well, it means New topic! Something I think almost everyone might have an opinion on, whether positive or negative:
Television. This month will be filled with all things Teevee:
-reviews/ thoughts of shows I’ve seen in the past or watch for the first time
-features of soundtracks, characters, genres, and more
-and of course- lists! My favorite!
So tonight, I thought I’d kick off with a part of television that is both frivolous and delicious at the same time. It can also be quite repulsive with the wrong character or poor costume department…
BEST DRESSED CHARACTERS ON TV- According to Meri
1. Rachel Green, Friends: Mini-skirts, boots, little black dresses, and leather jackets. 90’s fashion icon for all! Plus, who could forget “The Rachel”?

2. Clarissa, Clarissa Explains it all: Okay, so these days her clothes are pretty scary looking (the chokers, the tights, the layering, the neon…) but back in the day, we ALL wanted her wardrobe. Some days I still do.
3. Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City: Her fabulous dresses, her Jimmy Choos, the tutu, and more. This show at some point seemed to transcend cultural mores and instead, for me, became primarily about the GORGEOUS CLOTHES!
4. Nancy Botwin, Weeds: First off, I just want her hair. She has almost an exact replica of my sister’s hair, and I want it. Second, her dresses and bermuda style shorts as well as not-even-close-to-mom-jeans jeans along with wedge sandals make soccer moms immediately cooler.
5. The cast of Gossip Girl: I can’t choose one of them- Blair Waldorf and her headbands? Serena’s layers of gorgeous rich clothing? Chuck’s suits or Nate’s…well, he’s just hot. I’m not even entirely sure this show has a plot besides beautiful people in beautiful clothes, and I don’t care.

6. Betty and Don Draper, Mad Men: Although I love the 60’s style of almost all of the characters on this show, the “protagonist couple” stands out- there are days I wish I were a dude so I could wear Draper’s gray suits. Betty manages to look chic in her nightie. Incredible clothes and styling.
Honorable mentions: Rachel Berry (Glee); Lucy (I Love Lucy); Mary Tyler Moore (The MTM show), Tia and Tamara (Sister Sister), Lisa Turtle (Saved by the Bell)
Who did I miss? What TV characters do you look to for fashion? Are there shows you watch as much for the fashion as the plot?
