Clif-Hanger-On

If you didn’t catch it from the title, this Tasty Tuesday is going to sound like a broken record (if you’ve been hanging around Meri-Goes-Round long enough, anyway)…

Yes, that’s right, I’m going to harp on and on about Clif bars again…

You’ve heard me talk about Clif:

and Clif Jr.:

…so what could I possibly be blathering on about now? Well, of all of the Clif varieties (I’ve also tried the Clif crunchy bars that are similar to Nature Valley bars, and the Clif power energy smaller bars), the Clif Kids Z-bars are my favorite. Thus far, I had only tried Blueberry, Honey Graham, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Brownie, S’more, and Peanut Butter.

What did I see on my most recent Target bender, however?

Voila!

yessssss… a new flavor!

What’s the verdict? Well, on first taste, it was still cold from sitting in my car from an evening of errands, and tasted almost dried out and stale. Fail.

Second try? omigoodnesssssss. This beast might be the best one yet. I broke it into chunks and heated it in the microwave, and it was soo delicious. It has the oatmeal taste, it has a drizzle of yogurty frosting, and white chocolate chips (which usually I’m not crazy about, but they are really small and go well with the bars).

Clif bars? WINNING!

Go try these!

What’s your latest food find or new flavor of an old favorite? Do you eat bars as desserts? Completely off topic, is anyone else excited for the Golden Globes this weekend?

Agh, I saw these at Sam’s today and started to buy the huge box, but didn’t because I wasn’t sure if they were any good. Fail!

  2. Rebecca says:

Sometimes I get Luna bars if I go to Trader Joes.

  3. A former coworker introduced me to clementines a few months ago. I had never had one! So I guess that’s my “new flavor” 🙂 And yes! I’m excited for the Golden Globes, but only for the fashion 😉

    • Meri says:

Mmm they are my favorite wintertime treat! I don’t like oranges but I do love clementines! Did you know they are also called “cuties”? I love that

  4. So, my post tomorrow morning is all about new foodie finds! haha And one of them just happens to be the new Clif Mojo bar! It’s chocolate, almond, and coconut! 🙂

I might need to give the clif bar a retry … I’ve never been pleased with one. I do like a good old fashioned granola bar, the Oats N Honey I grew up on. You know, not healthy, just sugar rolled oats.

    • Meri says:

oh yeah, I still occasionally enjoy a Quaker Chewy bar. I like the texture of bars better than a lot of cookies like oreos or others, so they are kind of my dessert.

  6. Raymund says:

This Christmas my sister from Switzerland brought me some Rohesspec Port, its the Swiss take on jerky but with a twist of bacon, love the flavour.

  7. I must find them! I love Z Bars…I’m not sure if it’s because they taste good, or I just like kid food. 🙂

  8. Ada says:

I think Clif Bar should make you an ambassador! 😀

  9. Marissa says:

Clif Bars are my go-to pick at gas stations/convenience stores/anywhere I’m hungry and in need of a healthy snack. I’ve never had the Kids ones though. I’ll have to give them a try.

  10. Tatiana says:

I still have never tried a cliff bar. Or any protein bar for that matter. I do love my desserts though. The unhealthy kind. I could eat tiramisu at least 3x per day. No bueno 🙁
I guess my healthy obsession would be cuties. I can eat a whole box of those in two days. Yummo!

  11. Errign says:

Those sound super good, but I have a vital question – are there any nasty squidgy dried grapes in there?

    • Meri says:

No! There aren’t! Although I have no problems with raisins, there aren’t any. I think the white chocolate chips are there in place of raisins?

  12. I am a huge fan of the Z-bars! Especially the graham and blueberry flavors! 🙂
