Insane in the membrane, insane in the rain

I looked out the window this morning to see it again. Rain.
Saturday? Cloudy, pretty nice out
Sunday? Kinda rainy, hella foggy
Monday? Rainy.
Tuesday? Rain continues…
Wednesday’s forecast? The dreaded “wintry mix…”

I stepped outside this morning. Plip-plop, plip-plop. Whooooosh! I nearly become Meri Poppins with my umbrella, as the gale force winds say their “good morning.”

I’m getting kind of tired of this

Yes, those are all my boots

I’m ready for Spring. The real spring. Days and days of rain can really bring a girl down! However, in the interest of optimism, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite ways to cope with a rainy day, and… (dare I say?) maybe even enjoy it.

1. Go to the library! I stopped by my local branch this evening and picked up Weeds season 5, the March issue of Veg. Times, A short novella by Kurt Vonnegut, some CDs (Mark Ronson, the Eels, The Cure), and A Rolling Stone with Snooki on the cover.  This is enough goods to last me a little while! (I’m not even including the 26 items I already had checked out).

2. Have some tea, and have a cookie! I bought these at Cub in the dollar aisle thinking they would taste sort of awful. Surely they are full of lighter fluid and toothpaste and corn syrup. But nope, they are strawberry sugary deliciousness. Instant cheer!

3. Cuddle with a loved one, or call a long lost friend. Make some human contact!

4. Do a project. Since I didn’t want to be outside, I went through my “inbox,” paid two bills, and read over our lease agreement. If it rained every day I’d be the most productive woman in the union.

5. Listen to music! (You had to know this was coming, it’s music month for crying out loud)!

Here is a rainy day music playlist, just for fun.

1. Rainy Day Woman- Bob Dylan
2. Raindrops keep falling on my head- BJ Thomas
3. Purple Rain- Prince
4. November Rain- G ‘n’ R
5. The Rain in Spain- My Fair Lady
6. I’m only happy when it rains- Garbage
7. Shelter from the Storm- Bob Dylan
8. Sunshine (Go away today)- Jonathan Edwards
9. The Rainbow Connection- Kermit the Frog
10. Fire and Rain- James Taylor
11. A Hard Rains a gonna Fall- Bob Dylan (man, this guy likes to sing about rain!)
12. No Rain- Blind Melon
13. It’s Raining Men- The Weather Girls (why am I sensing this was a one-hit wonder for them?)
14. Rain, rain, go away, come again another day
15. Over the Rainbow- The Wizard of Oz

What do you guys do when it rains? Do you get depressed and have discussions about Vitamin D lamps with your co-workers? Or do you deal with it another way?

And did I miss any rain songs?

Tune in soon for a Movie Soundtrack List I’m working on!
