Yesterday man-go-round and I drove uptown to meet my sister and her two lovely girls at the American Swedish Institute, a lovely and charming museum set in a mansion which displays exhibits and decor of Swedish culture and heritage (none of which, I believe, I have running through my veins).
Inside, they had some stellar exhibits and rooms on display: Like Josef Frank’s Designs…
and Nordic woodcarving…
the carpets, woodwork, and stoves in the mansion:
That beauty is in the museum gift shop, hence the Stieg Larsson books resting on top… and finally, the primary reason for our visit… the hero of the South Seas… Pippi Longstocking!
Yes, we sure love our Pippi in my family! Although none of us wore costumes, I sure did consider it.
On this perfect sunny Sunday (and due to the fact that we got museum passes for free from the library), it was an outing I’ll be repeating soon in the future, as not only was the mansion itself beautiful but each exhibit was also pretty interesting.
But until you have a chance to visit… if you haven’t already, vote in the SUGARBOWL FINALS!!! I’m leaving the voting open until I post on Wednesday, so no excuses this time!
Skittles vs. Twix for the ultimate title between chocolate and candy!
What is your heritage/ background? Do you have a strong cultural identity? Do you enjoy learning about other cultures even if it isn’t your own?
