Well, I took a few days off of the old blog and chain to celebrate our nation’s independence up at the cabin. Now that I’m back, how about we all get reacquainted with another episode of 80s and 90s nostalgia with:

Remember This? episode 5

1. Snood: Tell me I’m not the only dweeb who was totally addicted to this computer game, where you shot neon monster heads at same-colored monster heads until they matched colors and exploded/ disappeared? I nerded out so hardcore at this game that when I was in middle school my brother in law got me this dope “Snood University” tee-shirt for Christmas.

2. YM Magazine: I think the YM was supposed to stand for “Young Modern” or some cheesetastic crap like that. Before there was Teen Vogue, there was YM, a contemporary of “Teen” and “Seventeen” magazines. YM was maybe the raciest of the other teen mag parade, and its most popular feature was probably the “Why Me?” embarrassing moment section.

3. Brandy and Monica- “The Boy is Mine”: This song was so huge, it was ridiculous. It took two already crazy popular stars and put them together with a bangin’ beat and a common theme to teenagers- fighting over boys, of course!

4. Super Soakers: For a time, there were only pathetic, handgun style water guns. It was a simple time. You filled up the tiny reservoir, squirted the gun six times, and reloaded. Then one day, badass Supersoakers came along, and no one was safe and dry anymore. The more you pumped these suckers, the farther the bullets sprayed out of your machine gun  water flew. These things were totally extreme, and kind of scary.

5. Koala Yummies: These edged out dunkaroos for “what to beg for at the grocery store” because, like dunkaroos, they were frosting and cookies, but to give them an extra something- they were shaped like a cute animal, thus winning the competition of overpriced processed treat for kids. If I could find these now, I would still buy them.
