Yesterday was the most beautiful evening, a respite at last from the staggering heat of the last few weeks. So man-go-round and I packed up some things for a little picnic in the park (okay, beer in the park, actually, but  picnic sounds classier). While there, we observed the cutest little creature crawling around on our picnic table.

see that little guy climbing over the “obstacle course” we set out for him/her? Our new pet found a way around, quite crafty that one.

So here is my recipe for a picnic in the park:

• blanket/ fold up chairs (even if there is a picnic table, it might be busy!)
• snacks (trail mix, crackers, bread and cheese, fruit)
• beverages (beer, wine,  bubbly water, or whatever floats your boat)
• books/ magazines/ crossword puzzles
• frisbee/ playing cards/ games
• Other: music, binoculars (for birdwatching OR people watching), a camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, etc.
