P-A-R-T- Why? well, I happen to have a list…

Today I spent some time decorating for a party we’re having tomorrow…

Yes, that’s Twister

Spring decorations!

Paper and cloth boutonnieres

and it made me think of a very special list. Even more special than yesterday’s 80s/90s toys list.

Parties! Who doesn’t love to party? There are a lot of reasons to get together, and today I intend to count down my favorites.

…because there is always a reason to party…

10. Theme Party– These were super abundant in college. Cowboy/western party, Hawaiian party, Toga party… Golf Pros and Tennis Hos (the shame), 80’s, and more. They are fun, but I’ve had my fill for awhile. Remind me a little too much of a frat house.

9. 4th of July BBQ– But only at my cabin! Swimming, decorating our pontoon float, grilling good eats, watching the fireworks and trying not to light myself on fire whilst I cook s’mores on the fire…

8. New Year’s Eve– Yes, it’s overhyped, but its an awesome reason to get glittered up and wear my lace up black boots. Plus, champagne is definitely a great party drink!

7. Dinner Party– I’m sort of scared of throwing these, but I see them in my future, as domesticity tends to be appealing as I suck at it…

6. Holiday Party– One word- mistletoe. Oh, two more words- gingerbread. cookies.

5. Murder Mystery Party– I have never been to one. Hint hint… someone have one…

4. Halloween– Because everything is more fun in costume. My personal favorite costumes have been Lucy (man-go-round was Ricky), a bat, a flower, and dopey (age 2)

3. Dance party– Sometimes these start out as a birthday party, a theme party, or a general get together. But before long, someone plays the right song and these parties can go all night! See also… Rave, David Bowie, Strobe lights, and ribbon dancing…

2. Ted Danson’s Birthday– It’s an old joke with my bestest friend that whenever we need an excuse to celebrate something we say, “it’s Ted Danson’s Birthday!” Originally, we just wanted to make brownies. As we grew older and out of the house, it became a legitimate party excuse.

1. Birthday Party– You can’t beat a birthday party: Cake, presents, sometimes a special new outfit, balloons, friends, family, and all just to celebrate you. Plus, there’s that wish you get to make as you blow out the candles…

My favorite birthday parties include my 24th at Azia, my 21st which culminated at the Red Dragon/ my front lawn, my 23nd at the crazyd mansion I used to live at, and my younger birthdays filled with ice cream Christmas tree cakes, skating parties, and the “red plate!” My family takes our birthdays pretty seriously, and I have never felt more special or loved than on my birthday!

What is your favorite reason to party? Any great themes or parties I missed that I should try out? I should mention that I purposefully left off grad parties and baby/ bridal showers as well as tupperware/ pampered chef parties. No thanks. I said PARTY, not AWKWARD AFTERNOON…

ahem.

Party on people! It’s Saturday Night!
